The Certified Bookkeeper assessment tests members on tasks ICNZB have identified as standard bookkeeping tasks that a bookkeeper would offer their client.
By holding this certification, you are able to demonstrate to your clients that you have a solid understanding of the principles of bookkeeper, and those skills are endorsed by a recognised professional body.
About the assessment
Please ensure you read the below notes prior to starting the assessment
- You will not be able to take the assessment until payment has been received.
- You must take the assessment within 14 days of payment.
- You are permitted 4 attempts over 14 days to pass this assessment. The timer will not stop if you log out and back in again.
- You need to achieve a mark over 70% to pass the assessment.
- The system will automatically save your answers as you go.
- After you submit the assessment, it will be marked immediately by the system.
- It is important to note this is an online assessment, not an e-learning course.
What is involved
The assessment consists of 55 questions across the following topics:
- End of Month Reporting
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Bank reconciliations
- GST
- Ethics
All questions are multi choice and require you to match statements to a correct answer.

This assessment has been developed using the CCH Master Bookkeeper Guide as the primary reference source, and the Inland Revenue website.
